What is Syphilis?
Syphilis is an infectious disease that can either be transmitted by unsafe sexual contact or by using contaminated needles. Mother to child transmission is also one possible way of infection. The causative agent is the bacteria Treponema Pallidum, which enters the body through mucous membranes.
The disease nearly disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century, when scientists found out that a treatment with antibiotics (Penicillin) will cure it entirely. Since the 1990s, numbers of reported cases are rising again noticeably- not only in developing but also in highly industrialized countries. According to WHO estimations, there are about 10 milion new cases in adults each year. Co-infections of Syphilis and HIV are particularly frequent.

Besurence Syphilis is a reliable diagnostic test kit for the detection of antibodies to Treponema Pallidum in human whole blood, serum or plasma.
